Snowball Cookies

My Nana makes these every year at Christmas time and they are one of my favorites! If you put the powdered sugar on while they are still a little bit warm, it will melt into a coating of frosting around it. Sometimes this occurs 'accidentally' when I make them... yum! Either way, just make sure you don't breathe in while taking a bite. You'll be coughing up frosting for the rest of the day!

Snowball Cookies
Makes about 4 1/2 dozen (54 cookies)

1 pound butter (4 sticks)
1 cup granulated sugar
4 cups flour
1 2/3 cups finely chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
about 2 cups powdered sugar (for tossing)

1. beat butter, vanilla, and granulated sugar
2. stir in flour and nuts until a crumbly dough forms
3. roll into balls and bake at 350 degrees for about 13 minutes (until firm to the touch but not brown)
4. cool completely and then toss in powdered sugar until well covered
5. eat!
