Nutella-Chocolate Cream Tart

This tart has a sweet pastry crust filled with creamy chocolate cream pie-like filling with a blanket of Nutella underneath! It's sweet and chocolately, but not too rich- almost like a grown up version of chocolate pudding!

Nutella-Chocolate Cream Tart (Serves 8-10)
Tart Crust "pate sucree"(adapted from Martha Stewart Living Cookbook):
1 1/2 cups flour
1 stick butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons ice water
1. using a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour until a coarse meal forms
2. add egg yolk, vanilla, and ice water and stir just until a dough forms
3. pat into a circle, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for an hour, then roll into a circle and pat into tart pan
4. cover with foil, fill with pie weights or dry beans, and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes
5. let cool while making the chocolate filling
Chocolate Cream Filling:
1 cup cream
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

1. in a small dish whisk eggs and vanilla to combine, set aside
2. in a medium glass bowl place chocolate chips, set aside
3. heat the cream and sugar to boiling and pour over the chocolate chips into the glass bowl, let sit for 5 minutes then whisk together until smooth
4. slowly add the egg mixture, whisking as you pour, until mixture thickens and is well combined 5. assemble the tart

1. spread 1/2 cup Nutella across the bottom of the tart crust
2. pour the chocolate-cream mixture on top
3. bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until the center is set
4. chill for several hours and serve cold with whipped cream!
