Gnocchi with Bacon and Peas in Cream Sauce

This cream sauce was perfect over the fluffy pillows of fresh gnocchi! I loved how the bacon gave it a bit of crunch in contrast to the sweet burst-in-your-mouth peas and tender gnocchi. Rich and cheesy with a slight tang from the sour cream, this sauce was amazing!

Gnocchi with Bacon and Peas in Cream Sauce
Serves 4

prepared gnocchi (try this recipe!)
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2/3 cup milk or cream
1/4 pound of bacon, cooked and chopped
1/2 pound (8 ounces) of green peas
1/3 cup sour cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon onion powder
salt and black pepper to taste

1. melt butter over medium heat and add flour, stir until bubbly and golden brown
2. add milk or cream and whisk until smooth, then bring to a simmer until mixture begins to bubble and thicken slightly
3. add peas, onion powder, and cheese and continue to cook for about 5 minutes
4. add salt and pepper to taste and sir in bacon and sour cream carefully, so you don't mash the peas
5. heat the sauce through and then pour over prepared gnocchi and enjoy!

  1. This looks great! I am going to have to try this soon. I make ricotta cheese gnocchi, which is very good.

  2. I just made this. So good! Thanks!
