Chai Spice Snickerdoodles

12 Days of Christmas Treats- Day 2! I don't drink coffee, so when I go to a coffee shop with a friend, I almost always get chai tea. These cookies are your typical soft snickerdoodle but the addition of chai spices makes them even better!

Chai Spice Snickerdoodles
Makes 2 dozen

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 additional tablespoons white sugar

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. Combine cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves in a small dish, stir together, and set aside.
3. Cream together butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar, eggs and vanilla.
4. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, one teaspoon of the spice mixture, and salt.
5. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
6. Mix together the additional 2 tablespoons sugar and the remainder of the spice mixture in a dish.
7. Roll balls of dough in spice/sugar mixture and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard and remove immediately from baking sheets to cooling racks. Enjoy!
