Soft and Cakey Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies come out perfectly rounded, golden brown, soft, and cakey, filled to the brim with melty chocolate chips. My mom and grandma declared them 'perfect' and while I prefer a slightly more chewy, gooey version, (like my 'Best-Ever Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies') these were still delicious! If you like your chocolate chip cookies soft, fluffy, and packed with chocolate chips... these are for you!

Soft and Cakey Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes about 35

1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups plus 2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and cover baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a mixer, cream butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in vanilla and eggs, one at a time, scraping down the sides of the bowl in between each one.
4. Add in flour and baking soda and mix until just combined, then gently fold in chocolate chips.
5. Scoop walnut sized balls of dough onto prepared cookie sheets, 2 inches apart, and bake for 12-15 minutes, until light golden brown.
6. Allow to cool on sheets for a few minute after coming out of the oven to firm up slightly, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
7. Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container for up to a week.
